Recognised as ‘Best for the World’
Charlie Oliver, Consultant
12 June 2018
Following our reassessment at the end of 2017, we have been shortlisted in two of B Corp’s five categories for our leading standards in ‘governance’ and ‘workers,’ scoring in the top 10% of more than 2,400 Certified B Corporations on their B Impact Assessment.
Specifically, GoodBrand was recognized for creating innovative governance structures to protect the mission of our business, along with having best-in-class policies to ensure a positive impact for our people. Honourees scoring in the top 10% set a ‘gold standard’ for the high impact that business as a force for good can make around the world.
The lists are based on an independent, comprehensive assessment administered by the non-profit, B Lab. The full list of honourees is available on B the Change. Other standout honourees included Patagonia for ‘overall’, Bridges Fund Management for ‘governance’ and Namasté Solar for ‘workers’.
Jay Coen Gilbert, co-founder of B Lab said, “with the rise of anger at a system that feels rigged, people are hungry for companies like GoodBrand, who are changing the system by building businesses that seek to create the greatest positive impact. Best For The World is the only list of businesses that uses comprehensive, comparable, third-party-validated data about a company’s social and environmental performance. As consumers, talent and investors increasingly demand transparent, values-aligned businesses to buy from, work at and invest in, companies will need to not just the best in the world but the best for the world, and not just to be nice but to be the most successful.”
Our CEO Mike Thompson said, “we are delighted to be included in the ‘Best for the World’ shortlist. This recognition means a lot when you consider the number of successful and sustainable businesses that are part of the community around the world. GoodBrand was established twenty years ago to help our clients connect, create and catalyse impact. Our assessment score gives us continued confidence that we are well placed to do that.”
Update: Later in September 2018, we were featured in B Lab’s ‘Best for the World: Global Changemakers’ list. Read more here!
Further update: Following our acquisition by Anthesis Group, we have been asked to deactivate our B Corp certification, as Anthesis has not undertaken the assessment.

James Wallis Speaks at hub dot
Lots of people walk around with a very negative view of business, even (or especially), those who work inside large corporates.
My hope is that through dialogue (and innovation) we can gradually challenge embedded orthodoxies and help people apply their true values to their work. Recognising the ability of business to do good is not hopeless idealism, rather a path to long-term success and a better world
